Alfred R. Rochester scrapbooks, 1940-1987.

Scrapbooks relating to the life and work of Al Rochester (a New Deal Democrat who served twelve years on the Seattle City Council and became an influential booster of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair), compiled by his daughter, Mary Ellen Rochester. Vol. 1 contains newspaper clippings from Rochester's public life, focusing almost exclusively on his years as a City Council member. However, there are a few clippings that pre-date and post-date his tenure on the Council. Vol. 2 contains newspaper clippings commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Topics represented include the World Fair Commission of 1955-1962; the Century 21 Exposition; the Alaskan Way Viaduct; and parks in Seattle.
